The temple is nestled on the west of Palampur and is devoted to the Goddesses Durga or Chamunda. Baijnath Temple is a very famous Shiva Temple near Palampur. This holy shrine is believed to have been constructed in 13th century by two merchants named Ahuka and Manyuka. In the temple, Lord Shiva is commemorated in the form of Vaidyanath and worshipped in the form of Linga. The water of the temple is also popular amongst devotees as it has medicinal properties.
The temple is built in the North Indian style of architecture called Nagara. However, influence of Orissan style is also evident in the architecture, giving this temple a unique look. History:According to Hindu mythology, Ravana worshipped Lord Shiva in this temple. As per history, prior to the construction of this temple, there was yet another Shiva temple existed here.

Dhauladhar National Park also houses a zoo called Gopalpur, which situated at a distance of 13kms from the city of Palampur. Blessed with rich flora and fauna, this park is a home to different types of deer, red fox, sambhar, Asiatic lion, angora rabbits, black bears and leopards. Sprawling over an area of 30 acres, Dhauladhar National Park is an ideal place for wildlife buffs. The best time to visit here is between March and June.
